I am trying a new recipe for Lemon Shaker pie courtesy of The World Needs More Pie. Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the recipe. It calls for slicing lemons, ring and all, and macerating them over night. So basically, I'm making candied lemons and then baking them in a pie. I am 100% okay with this (especially since I already had lemons on hand to make watermelon lemonade).

My only change is that I don't like pies with the top crust, so I'm leaving it off. I'm also cheating by using a frozen store bough crust. I have warm hands so making biscuits, pie crusts, etc. that need to remain cold is a pain in the butt for me. Hence, I cheat.

I will report the results tomorrow!

I keep losing and finding this website, so maybe if I put it here I won't have to keep searching on it. For those times when you're having a discussion with your girlfriend and realize you don't know whether sugar beets were around in Roman times (they weren't, though chard and red beets were):

http://www.foodtimeline.org/

The discussion leading up to this was "What naturally sweet foods were available to ancient Romans?" The answer is: not many. Honey was the big one, and possibly beets though they weren't in wide use and sugar beets as we know them had not been developed. Sugar from sugar cane was available, but it was expensive since it was made in China/India and seen as a medicine and not as food. That's why it was common for lead to be added to wine, since lead acetate is sweet. And this was done even though the Romans knew lead was poisonous.

There's your food history lesson of the day.

EDIT: Edited because lead was added to wine, not win. Obviously lead added to anything being consumed is the very opposite of win.

Since I don't have very good tracking software on my site I don't often get to see all the very "interesting" hits that it gets. Instead I only get to see the top 20 hits, which are usually very bland and involve people either looking for me or some sort of fanfiction. Today though, I have not one, not two, but three great hits that have made the top 20.

"is touya akira gay" I think we all know my answer to that question.

"goo sex fanfiction" D:

"digimon tomato yaoi" Was the normal tomato yaoi not enough for you?

I have owned my website at tsaiko.com for almost seven years now. Granted not much was up until about four years ago, but I still owned it. Not too long ago, someone started a fan club for some sort of sports team in Hawaii (football? It looks like football). Their name? The Tsai-kos. They even went so far as to get the domain name tsaikos.com and have a large forum set up about their team.

I'm sure you can all see where this is going.

For the last couple months, I have been getting email for adminsname@tsaiko.com which of course gets routed to my email. They really want to send it to adminsname@tsaikos.com. I've politely emailed back the people who do more than send a "test" email informing them that they have made an error and that I own tsaiko.com. I only recently figured out that they were attempting to reach tsaikos.com instead.

Here's my dilemma: should I contact the admin of tsaikos.com and let them know that some of their forum members are sending me emails by mistake? Should I just continue to politely reply to the emails I do receive and inform them that they have reached the wrong domain? Normally I'd just ignore it, but I'm getting 4-5 emails a week some about planning, setting up events, and some with more personal details. I don't expect any contact with the admins to stop the emails completely (I'm not that optimistic), I just want them to know there's a disconnect and that they might need to remind their forum members to stick the s on the end of the domain. Otherwise important stuff is going to get lost.

So I open it to my friend's list: what would you do?

Updated my website. I didn't realize I hadn't put what I have of the (A)Typical Gundam Wind Fanfic up on the website so that's up. Fixed a typo in one of my other fanfics and put up the Ransom story. I also worked on the Kidnapped Bride story and hope to have a completed part of that at some point.

Tonight is grocery shopping and homework. And maybe some more writing.
tsaiko: Gif of a lemming falling off an edge (whee)
I just formatted all 28 pages of the Ransom story so I could get it up on FictionPress. Tomorrow I get to do the exact same thing for my website.

*twitches some more*

At least you all now know that you can expect an update this weekend (even if it will be rather small).
tsaiko: Gif of a lemming falling off an edge (penis)
In the interest of updating my website (don't all run to see, I didn't) and because I recently read some Gundam Wing fic that I enjoyed, I've been slowly going through my fanfic folder to see what can be put up from my days in the fandom.

You know what you should never do? You should never, ever go back and read through fanfic that is over 10 years old. Most of the ideas are solid (some not so much), but some of this writing is terrible. I want to go back and yell at my younger self. Specifically, I want to go back and yell at my younger self about beginning sentences with contractions. DO NOT DO IT EVERY OTHER SENTENCE.

Part of me wants to take all the Gundam Wing stuff, hide it, and hope no one else remembers it. I'm not going to though. It will get put up on my website (with possible the exception of the freaking song fic I wrote. Sweet Jesus on a pogo stick). I made a promise to myself that no matter how old or how bad it was, if I posted it once and got feedback I need to post it again. Because someone, somewhere probably remembers reading it and I don't want them to have to spend hours on Google or The Wayback Machine desperately hoping to stumble across an archived copy.

Yes, that is the voice of experience talking. Why do you ask?

Must resist urge to edit for all content and not just typos/grammar mistakes. At least I have no problems with editing old stuff that I didn't finish and therefore didn't put up. It really needed it. I'm not sure I could ever finish it because of the style changes between then and now. Surely it would be awkward and obvious.

...

I still really like the stories I wrote where the Gundams from Gundam Wing all have spirits and they are all dragons with distinct personalities. No, I don't care how cheesy it is.
tsaiko: Gif of a lemming falling off an edge (gourd!)
Argh. I realized I contradicted myself on something in the third part of the Witch King. Which means I not only have to fix it in the word docs but also on my page. *grumble* At least I was able to get my glasses fixed for free.

Also I wrote 3/4 of the fourth part of Witch King. It went pretty fast. I could end the fourth part here, but I think you'd all rise up and smite me. It's not a cliff hanger but it would make this part much shorted than the other three. I think I'll see if I can add one more scene.

Maybe I'll be really evil and end if on a cliff hanger. I just had an evil, evil, EVIL idea for doing just that. WHAHAHAHAHA. Might get it done by tomorrow. That would be a nice way to start the school year. Post the fourth part of the Witch King story.

Right then. I think that's enough writing for today. I'm going to crochet for awhile and then go to bed.

EDIT: Error fixed on website. Win!

I use to do a post every once in awhile called Those Crazy Referrers back when I was still regularly posting to my pitas page as opposed to livejournal. I had a nice tracking service that would track every single search engine hit I got. Once a day I would check the hits and keep a list of the craziest ones. Once I got about 20 or so, I'd do a post. Ahh... those were the days. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I don't have such a thing on my livejournal or my webpage. The only thing my webpage shows is the top twenty search agent hits for each month. As you can imagine, these are pretty generic since they usually are hits I get more than once.

That being said, for old times sake, I give you Those Crazy Referrers 2007:

January: digimon davis and crazy digimon emperor yaoi fanfic As opposed to those times when he was sane? I mean, were you watching the same series I was?4
February: coils surrounded him Why yes, yes they do. Mmmm....
March: tied up and tickle tortured Please to be finding this some where else.
April: how to kill a dragon Should I be scared that someone needs this information?
May: digimon bad davis Bad Davis. Very Bad Davis. No Ken for you. *snicker*
June: digimon yolei her butt Okay. Sure. I don't even know what you were really trying to find with this search.
July: calvin hobbes fanfiction sex Let me get on [livejournal.com profile] maderr so she'll write it. XD
August: naruto popsicle So what flavor would it be? Orange? I'm going to say a Sakura popsicle would be strawberry and a Sasuke one would be blueberry. No body knows what flavor Kakashi is. He is mysterious.
September: Alas, all hits for this month that made it into the top 20 were very generic. Sigh. So let's move onto October where someone was wondering...
October: are there any beautiful virgins left in the world Yes. But I can guarantee they can't be found on my website. XD
November: dragon m%c3%a9di%c3%a9val Right then. Can you please learn how to construct a valid search before hitting the enter button?
December: tomato fanfiction/digimon AHHHH! CROSSOVER HELL.

Granted, these are pretty slim pickings compared to what I use to get, but still worth a chuckle. If only there was a way to get a tracker to track all the referrer hits for all my pages without coughing up any money.

I got presents!

tsaiko: Multicolor skittles with the words "Skittles make me happy" (happy)
My mom's package arrived today, so our trees looks very nice with all the presents underneath it.

I got [livejournal.com profile] maderr and [livejournal.com profile] rykaine's package, and the cookies you two sent are being slowly eaten as we speak (the stuff in the cartons will not be touched until tomorrow because I'm counting the cartons as wrapping and therefore they go under the tree until Christmas).

I also got [livejournal.com profile] mechante_fille package today. Next time I play Monopoly, I am so totally going to be the Triceratops. XD

Finally, I am formatting the last two stories to go up on my website as we speak. Once that's done, I will do an update for Christmas. Then I will pick through and put some more stuff up on Fictionpress.

Everyone enjoy the holidays!

EDIT: Site updated. I was going to put the Ransom story up, but that's too much HTML at the moment. Witch King, Pied Piper, and Trick or Treat ([livejournal.com profile] snail_mail_porn Halloween story) are now up.

Fictionpress!Tsaiko v. 1.0 is open for business

Review away

Note to self: the basic html you do on stories to get them read for FP makes it easier on you to get them ready for your website.

That translates to possible updates of the website for the rest of you.

Go... FASTER!

Dear fairytale,

I finished one of you bastards and I'd like to at least get more than 1 page written on another tonight. Please cooperate. If not, I will be forced to withhold porn.

No love,
Tsaiko

Also I figured I should probably get a Fictionpress account to put my original stuff up on only to discover someone had already taken the nick Tsaiko. I was vaguely disappointed until I decided to type in my own email address and start trying password. Three passwords later I discover I've had a fictionpress account since 2001.

HAHAHAHAHA. Fail.

I should probably put some of my original stuff up there. Hell, I should probably update my website. And while I'm at it, why don't I get to winning that lottery I've always been meaning to win.

Right. Back to wrestling with the story.

Done!

Eight of my Fushigi Yuugi stories are now up on my webpage.

You'll notice that the descriptions are pretty brief. That's because I haven't quite gotten up the courage to reread them. ^^;
tsaiko: Gif of a lemming falling off an edge (shock)
Working on my website tonight, though nothing has been updated yet. Basically I'm reformatting the stories up on my ancient Geocities site so it can be put with the rest of my stuff. I just found the very first fanfic I ever wrote. The date?

1998

Oh god, in fandom years I'm dead.

Who am I?
