Irony is the Shackles of Youth

I think I'm getting sick. Sigh.

I have found an apartment that will work. Need to get the paperwork in and see if we can get the one we want (top floor).

My thesis is turned in. I have two nice copies of it sitting here next to me.

Still packing.

Two good things today.

1) I have the signed acceptance sheet for my thesis.
2) I have my format check for my thesis scheduled for tomorrow.

I am almost there when it comes to my thesis. WOO!

Right after I got the corrections from my committee member, I emailed asking when I could stop by the office and get her signature. Her response?

"I won't be in until next week."

Looks like I won't be moving forward a week early after all. Why am I not surprised? At least I can make her corrections, get the other signatures, and have everything ready to go Monday for her to sign.

When I am done with my thesis (Why? Why must I do another read through of this abomination? I don't even care about it any more!!!!), I am going to write a story about a poor grad student who is desperately trying to finish is Doctorate. He gets so frustrated that one night picks up the first guy that says yes, and sleeps with him.

Only to find out that the guy is the newest professor in the department and is at his defense.

And I know I could totally pull it off too. I've done half the research for it just by going through the process of getting my own thesis done. It would be awesome.

Okay, one read through and then you can send if off and not have to think about this till the rest of the committee comments. You can do it Tsaiko. Almost there...

Okay, completed all my slides. I need to fix the two maps that ArcGIS screwed up. I also need to call the bindery and find out how many characters can fit on the spine because there is no way the full title of my thesis is going to work and the shortened title needs to be approved. I want that to be done today.

Still discovering little things wrong with thesis that need to be fixed. I swear this will happen until I turn the damn thing in. Heck, even after that. I'll open this thing five years from now and on the first page I start reading will find a typo. That is always the way.

Three hours and counting.

EDIT: Maps fixed. Bindery has been contacted. Thesis has been printed and the changes marked (also noticed a few mistakes. Sigh).

SO CLOSE.

I don't think I've ever been able to honestly say "I really enjoyed doing that interview" before.

I can now. That was a lot of fun. Kind of stressful at first, but as I relaxed I really enjoyed trying to find the answers to the interviewer's questions. It was challenging and I enjoyed the challenge.

This morning was a pre-format check for my thesis. It went well (though it was long). There were a few things I need to change, but most of them are minor. Best of all, the lady who does the format check also handles the rest of the graduation process and after I explained the who thing with the defense being scheduled, she is allowing me a few days leeway on the Sept. 10th deadline. Win. I have scheduled the final check and feel much more zen about the whole process.

Now to start making formatting changes to my thesis.

I finally have a date for my thesis defense.

It's a week later than I wanted it, but it's a date. August 31st. I am going to have bust my butt to get all the paperwork in so I can graduate in September instead of October. Everything has to be done by Sept. 10th for that to happen and there's a week turn around on the binding. Sweet Jesus on a velociraptor, my committee could not have cut this any closer had they tried.

Numfar! Do the dance of joy.

THESIS HAS PASSED CHAIR AND IS AT COMMITTEE.

SCHEDULING OF DEFENSE IS AT HAND. Assuming committee doesn't ask for even more analysis -_-.

WOO!

After some more formatting and editing, I should be able to send it to the rest of my committee. And I can finally set up a date for my defense. EXCITED. I should be done in August.

EEEEEEE!

Thesis 2.0 has been sent to my committee chair with about 50% more tables.

If he doesn't like this version, I'm going to take up a pitchfork collection so I can gather a mob a la Frankenstein to storm his office. XD

I was able to talk with a fellow grad student and my committee chair about some of his comments. I feel a lot better about them now, helped by the fact that a lot of people are telling me "Yeah, the whole do more analysis bit? That happens a lot." Also I don't think he intended some of the comments to come across as harsh as they did.

Still not thrilled with having to redo parts of this.

I did manage to finish the analysis yesterday and got most of the formatting done this morning. On the plus side, my accuracies for this analysis are much higher than last time. That at least makes me feel a little better about this whole thing. I'm going to be rewriting and revising this afternoon, tomorrow, and Monday. Then back to my committee chair. If he gives it a thumbs up (and he better), it'll go to committee.

Argh. I cannot believe this is taking this long. I CAN HAS MASTER'S DEGREE ALREADY?

I have to go back and do more analysis to make my committee chair happy. Sigh. So much for being done...
