Me: (while doing yoga) Why do I do this to myself? Why? This is terrible. Bodies should not bend this way.
Me: (after yoga) Oh thank god, my back is no longer a mess of knotted pain and tightness.

Tsaiko:I know! I'll climb the five flights of stairs to work. That way I get some more exercise.
*goes to work this morning*
*climb five flights of stairs*
*find out the DOOR IS LOCKED*
*back down five flights of stairs*
Tsaiko: And now I'm wobbly and dizzy. Fuck my life.

THE END

I will never enjoy exercising. Ever. No matter what the form. It's going to be one of those chores like taxes or scooping the litter box that I make myself do because I like the benefits.

Bleck.

Crunches. Are they really worth doing

Answer before doing them:
Of course! I can do this. I've always been good at crunches.

Answer after doing them:
DYING! OMG DYING! WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING? BLAAARG.

The end.

In other news, at least the stretches are paying off. I'm closer to being able to touch my toes. I have only ever been able to touch my toes once in my life, and that was back in 2004 when I was between jobs and did stretches every day for almost three months. I am looking to beat that. Yeah for slow and steady progress!

Stretch

I have started doing stretches recently as a way to help relieve some of the tension and pain in my knee. I get pain in my knee because I have a bad habit of drawing my legs up under me when sitting. This isn't a problem when I have something to prop them on (like a foot rest) or when I only do it occasionally. It is a problem when I do it for 8 hours a day at work and then come home and do it on the couch while on the computer. So stretches. And it's already working. This weekend I will get a footstool for at home, and that will help even more. Added bonus: maybe I'll actually be able to touch my toes at some point if I keep this up.

Also, the cats enjoy having me lie on the floor where they can annoy me in new and interesting ways. -_-

Tonight I got home and poached three chicken breasts. I've never poached chicken before, but it turned out great. Very moist. This was immediately shredded and some of it was put on top of cheese pizza I had in the oven. MMmmm... good stuff. I'll use the rest in chicken salad and possibly chicken tacos/burritos.

I have also started walking to and from work. It's a good 30 minute walk one way, which means if I walk both to and from work, I get an hour's worth of exercise. The people at my job act like this is a horrible thing. "Well, Tsaiko says her commute is walkable..." And it is walkable. The scenery is pleasant, I'm on a trail that's offset from the road, and I pass the grocery store/bank/drug store on the way meaning if I leave work a little I can do some shopping on the way home. They keep telling me to just wait till it's raining, but really, they have an invention called umbrellas for a reason.

With the eating in and exercising, maybe I can actually lose some of the weight I gained why frantically trying to finish my thesis.

I'm up to 40 crunches in my ever other day exercise routine. I'm going to 45 come February.

My abdominal muscles hate me.

I've also started doing weights again, though I decided to go back to my 5lb weights and am currently at 15 reps. I'll increase that monthly or bi-monthly depending on how things go. I'm still working up to my goal of doing 20 reps with the 10lb weights.

Baby steps to getting back into a routine.

Who am I?
