Going to the conference today reminded me that I really, really suck at small talk.

Except for the lady who sat next to me at lunch. We got in a great discussion about bird banding, using outdated software to handle millions of records, and how we both feel like you half-way need to be a programmer to do thing in GIS these days. She was awesome.

I would have stayed longer, but I seem to have developed a migraine. Yeah. On the bright side, I came home just in time to miss the worst of the snow.

We'll see how long I can stand the light coming off the monitor before my headache gets too bad for even that.

Ow. Ow. Ow.

Painkillers are the best thing ever invented.

Mouth ulcers suck.

Mouth ulcers caused because you cannot chew for some unknown reason and wind up biting the shit out of the inside of your mouth suck even worse.

Giving yourself yet another mouth ulcer because you're chewing food towards the back of your mouth due to the first set and forget that you have one less tooth back there and crunch down on the edge of a tortilla chip sucks the most.

I am so glad they make topical pain killer for just these kinds of situations.

Ow. Ow. Ow.

I have blisters on my feet from walking in wet socks, leg cramps from walking in the snow, shin splints walking so much, and despite spending 30 minutes this morning shoveling, still can't move the car because there is a giant snow/ice ball behind it thanks to the snow plows.

At least [livejournal.com profile] miome should be home tonight.

Ouch

Why yes, back, I would love to be in pain all day long. Thank you for the gift. Not.

Oldie but goodie

I'm at home today sitting on my couch with the heating pad. My goal is to be in good enough shape tomorrow so I can drive and attend the meeting for my part-time job. So far I have more flexibility in my neck and less pain. I've also done a load of laundry because I was bored and it needed to be done. Nadia is thrilled that I'm at home and on the couch, because it means she gets to lay on me.

I'm going to do some writing this afternoon. No idea what I'll work on. Whatever catches my fancy.

And now, and oldie but goodie from Angel. To the Angel-mobile! Away!

Pain

Well, the pulled shoulder has morphed into full out neck and upper back pain. I think in my compensating for the shoulder, I managed to hurt the muscles in my neck. Pain killers help, but aren't doing much to fix the problem. Tonight though, every position I am in when laying down hurts. Which is why I am up with a heating pad after midnight.

Today (Tuesday) is going to be a barrel of monkeys.

Tomorrow I have to drive to my part-time job. I only hope it's better by then.

Today of all days

Last night we had terrible storms go through. Think rain, lightning and nickle sized hail stones. My Cherokee Purple tomato plant didn't make it (though everything else is a little worse for wear, but still going strong). It's not too much of a loss since I haven't really been pleased with the fruit it's been providing. It's been low yield, the tomatoes cracked, and they tend to rot only a few days after being picked. I much prefer my roma. I think next year I'll experiment with a Broad Ripple yellow mostly because it was found in Indiana. XD

I have also managed to wrench my back at some point so I'm in pain. It started with my shoulder muscles and has migrated to my upper/mid back. I've taken pain killers for it but they aren't completely knocking it out. Ugh.

I think I'm going to do some reading this afternoon since that doesn't require me to move much or concentrate that hard. Unlike finishing my stats homework. I'll do that tomorrow when I'm better able to move around campus without pain.

Ow. Ow. Ow.

So sometime last night I rolled over in bed and managed to pull the muscle in my lower neck/upper back. Big time. As in even now I don't fully have range of motion in my neck. It hurts a whole lot, but Aleve is keeping it under control. The muscles are still pretty tight, but have loosened to the point that I can now look up and down without being in agony and can turn my head to either side, though not all the way.

Tomorrow I have a presentation in Hydrology class due. Lovely. Here's hoping it gets better with rest tonight.

If you've been reading this for awhile, you know that sometime in July the small pad that goes on the inside of the nose piece on my glasses came off. I found the pad, lost it, and found it again. I went and got a small eyeglass repair kit only to discover that none of the screws included were the right size. I've been wearing the glasses sans one nose pad for months with no issues.

However, during the winter I also wear hats. This causes my glasses to bump against my nose more, which in turn proceeded to dig the padless side of the nose piece into the side of my nose. In less than a week I developed a nasty blister. I stopped wearing the hat, but the damage was done. It was extremely uncomfortable for me to wear my glasses.

This is sort of a problem because without my glasses, I can't do anything. No seriously. I can't even type on my laptop because the screen is too far for me to see the letters clearly. The only way I can now wear my glasses is if I put a bandaid across my nose to protect the blistered part.

As you can imagine, this looks ridiculous.

I am NOT PLEASED and will hopefully convince some nice place to FIX MY GLASSES FOR ME. I really cannot afford new glasses right now. Besides which, this prescription is still good and I don't want to get new glasses. I JUST WANT MY OLD ONES FIXED.

RAR!

TMI Report

I swear I need a tag called the State of the Bowels )

In other news, I have about given up on the fingerless gloves thing. I just cannot find a pattern that is what I want and doesn't involve doing ribbing (which I have done successfully in crochet, but would rather stab my eyes out than do for any length of time). So I'm probably going to finish the scarf and take a picture of it and the hat sometime this week. I've got an extra skein of blue yarn leftover from this endeavor that I'll turn into a bunch of Granny squares with some white I keep around for just such a thing. Maybe I'll make an afghan to take to my mom. Who knows?

Who am I?
