I should know better. I have such an active imagination, that I really, really know better than to read ghost stories. Does that stop me? No. I like ghost stories. I like getting that little bit of thrill from reading them. I know way too much about paranormal stuff and I'm happy about it.

The problem is when I run across something that really truly weirds me out. Like in Middle School when I read about the building that if you went to sleep with your back to it, you'd wake up from nightmares of things watching you in the dark. Or in HS when I read about the ghost of the little girl that kept trying to drain the life out of a children that had moved into the house she haunted. They managed to make contact with her through a ouiji board, and I have refused to touch one since. Or in college when someone told me that the scariest movie they ever saw included a scene where a ball bounced and rolled acround a house by itself. The guy who moved into the house and didn't beleive in ghosts got so fed up he threw it in the river. Five second later, the wet ball bounced slowly down the strairs until it rested against his foot.

Add another story to the "freak out" pile. I bought a book that had some translated Japanese ghost stories in them and some explanation of the supernatural in Japan. In there was a story about people driving along a stretch of highway that was haunted. What really creeped me out was that if the inside of the car was foggy from condensation, you could see little kids hand prints appear on the windows as you drove by the spot.

If you'll excuse me, I'll be over here on my sofa. With the light on. o_O

Actually, I really like Stephen King and have a read deal of his books. They don't usually freak me out. Yeah there are scary parts, but there's also is morbid sense of humor. It's hard to be frightened when you're quietly snickering to yourself.

Kindred spirit!

I've got the same problems. I love watching ghost stories on TV or reading them out of a book, but I always seem to pay later. My imagination goes way too far.

I haven't really read much along the lines of anything lately though, mostly b/c I know myself.. To read a ghost story, while I live out in the country, alone, is not so smart. Would prolly give myself some sort of stress related condition or a high electric bill due to sleeping with the lights and TV on constantly.

GL tonight!

I use to do the same thing when I lived at my Mom's house. Twenty minutes from anything resembling civilization, I'm home alone, and what am I doing? Watching a special on ghosts on TV.

There were night when Mr. Baseball Bat slept next to my bed. Just in case.

Sounds familiar

That ball bouncing thing sounds like on that Jennifer Love Hewitt show Ghost Whisperer where there is a ghost dog only she can see. He likes to play fetch with her. Bet that's freaky for other people to watch though.

Maybe dude had a ghost dog and didn't know it.

Scary stuff creeps me out too. I had to sleep with the lights on for a WEEK after I saw The Ring. And i still didn't go to bed until dawn. (fortunately i wasn't working then)

HAHAHAH! Now see, I would love for it to have been a ghost dog. To me, that just takes all the creepy right out of it.

I didn't get any sleep the night after seeing the Ring because [livejournal.com profile] miome could not sleep with the lights off after seeing it. I cannot sleep with the lights on. Work was not fun the next morning.

MMmmmmhhh...

There's something like that here in Mexico. Supposedly, up north, a train ran over a school bus because the driver thought it could cross before the train got them. If you go to this place and park your car on the tracks, you can see little hands made by the kids trying to push your car out of the way. My uncle went and said that it was true, and you could also feel them push.

Aaaaaaand I just freaked myself out. *turns on light*

I was gonna tell that story! Supposedly it happened here in El Paso (or close enough nearby that people say it's here).

Maybe it's like La Llorona and people say it happened in so many places nobody really knows where it actually happened.

Or maybe it's near El Paso.

Either way, I'm not going to try and find out anytime soon. *is freaked out*

I've read stories like that.

Plus, the Japanese REALLY know the meaning of freaky.

My junior high was supposedly haunted--there was a swimming pool, now covered over with a classroom, where a teacher died, and she's supposed to haunt the place. I never saw any ghosts but somebody claimed to have seen a scar in the paint of a doorway...funny stuff. I went down in the pool once but there wasn't much there except a lot of dust and, well, dust.

Now see, my Elementary school was haunted especially the stairs near the auditorium. Not only could you hear people going up and down the stairs when you were the only one on them (and there was a landing half-way down, so you could see that you were the only one on them), I almost got pushed down them one time when there was no one else there.

Usually there are stories telling who it was doing the haunting, but no one in the school actually knew. Over half the school wouldn't go down the stairs alone though.

I suggest that you probably don't want to watch Supernatural then, unless you really _really_ like the hawt boys. :)

Well, Supernatural is all about the boys investigating supernatural occurances while they try and find their father, so there is lots of crazy shit going on. ^^ Of course, we all watch it for the *ahem* plot. :3

Who am I?
