Not going as planned

Good news: We are in Raleigh, NC as planned.
Bad news: We had to pull the car over and have it towed on the way to Raleigh, NC, which was not planned.

And of course, this being 4th of July weekend, the dealership service center we had it towed to is closed until Tuesday. Guess it's a good thing I already took Tuesday off. [livejournal.com profile] miome with her magical internet ninja skills found us the one car rental place open on Sunday, so we'll have a rental. My awesome friend picked us up and is getting to the rental place (she and her boyfriend also fed us last night, which makes her doubly awesome). But yeah, plans for this weekend have gone a bit off the tracks.

At least I'll have a new story to tell. :)

Ugh, car stuff. They do make vacations memorable, though. I remember trips as a kid better if there were car issues. ^_^ Of course, it was nice that my mom and dad took care of all the details.

Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!

It was really great seeing [livejournal.com profile] miome and you yesterday. I had been beginning to think I'd see you again (which I've come to realize is entirely my fault).

I hope everything with the car works out and you get back safe.

Okay, I can't edit the comment. That sentence should be "I had been beginning to think I'd never see you again."

About it being my fault... Meeting requires coordination and communication and I'm not so great at that. Here's an example: The last time I was in DC for any decent length of time with [livejournal.com profile] peppermintberry, we had a Saturday free. I could have tried to reach [livejournal.com profile] miome or you and asked "Hey, we're going to be in DC on x Saturday. Would you like to meet for lunch?" but, to be honest, I didn't even think of that.

Even if I had, I'm not certain I would have done it because I'd be concerned about "intruding on your lives" or some other silly excuse like that. I don't understand why sending an email or a message on LJ would be such a big deal but it apparently is. I think my introversion is in full force again.

Anyway, next time we're up in the area for any decent amount of time (which won't be for several months), I'll try to remember to ask about lunch or the like. The worst you can do is say "No," right?

We did get back safe, and everything did work out with the car on Tuesday (thank goodness). You are always welcome to call for lunch when you are in the area. Sometimes one of us might not be here, or we may not be able to, but feel free to ask.

Good to hear you got back safely and the car's taken care of.

I won't be able to call since I don't have a phone number. However, since I'd know well in advance about any trip I'd have time for, I'll email instead. Assuming I remember.

I know my next trip up there will be in late July or August but it will be purely for business and it may be a one day trip. (Fly in, do what needs to be done, fly out. What fun! Security theater twice in a single day!)

Who am I?
