I remember having a similar complaint about the beginning of FF8. Squeenix has always had this problem of too much cinema and not enough game play for awhile, but at least eventually I'm allowed to roam about. From what this person is describing it's much, much worse in this game and never really stops.
Well, they were only a little over halfway through the game. Considering how linear X was until you got the airship (which wasn't until nearly the very end), it's not really all that surprising. Sure, the game could still be painfully linear all the way to the end, or could open up like every other RPG when it gets near it. *shrugs* I dunno and neither do they. XD
Y'know, after FFXII, I already wasn't looking forward to returning to Nomuraland. I'll probably play it and enjoy it anyway, because the FF series has never completely disappointed me, but that really isn't far off what I was expecting. :/
I miss the days of VI and VII when you had to work out where the hell you needed to go to advance the game. X felt like they were leading us around by the hand. I was so hoping XIII would be better...Maybe Versus and Agito will be more gameplay?
