Tsaiko: I think I'll log into my computer.
Computer: I think not. *freezes while logging in*
Tsaiko: Fine. I'll just hard reboot you.
Computer: Wrong answer. *blue screens on boot up*
Tsaiko: WTF? *sends ticket*
IT Guy: What seems to be the problem?
Tsaiko: *indicates computer which is cycling through blue screening and restarting in an infinite loop of malaise* This.
IT Guy: We'll do Windows repair!
Computer: Look! I'm fine!
IT Guy: All fixed. *starts walking away*
Computer: Dumbass. *freezes*
Tsaiko: Wait! It just froze.
Computer: Damn. Should have waited a few more seconds.
IT Guy: Hmmm... This requires a few sacrificed chickens to fix. BRB. *takes computer*
Tsaiko: *twiddles thumbs until lunchtime* Oh look! It returned my computer while I was at lunch.
Computer: La la la.
Tsaiko: Did IT say what was wrong?
Coworker: They said the docking station was bad so they replaced it.
Tsaiko: ...I seriously doubt the docking station was blue screening the computer while it was booting.
Coworker: Sounds fishy to me too.
Tsaiko: Well, I need to reboot to get the license manager working.
Computer: Not in this lifetime, bitch. *blue screens*
Tsaiko: I've only had you for seven days, you stupid piece of shit!

IT has taken my week old, brand new computer and is going to reimage the thing. Personally, I don't think that will help. The only thing that will help that thing is a bullet to the case.

Wow. That's kind of insane. Seeing as it's brand new, can you maybe get it exchanged for one that works?

My feeling is they'll probably have to replace the laptop (or at least send it back in and get it repaired under warranty). Which is a shame because it takes at least two hours to install all the software I need to do my work.

Sigh...

As the person who is usually the IT guy in this scene, I cannot resist popping by to say that reimaging the machine should fix it unless some of the hardware is broken. If the hardware is broken, it will fuck up again when you get it back, and then they will try replacing the parts until it stops fucking up. This could either take a) a lifetime if your IT people aren't certified technicians, b) an okay amount of time if the certified people aren't busy, or c) a good amount of time if your IT people are certified. And that's if it's covered under the warranty.

In these cases I always like when shit's not covered under warranty, because then we just give people new stuff.

This is usually when I pull out a Linux CD and wave it over the computer, saying things like "The power of Linux compels you."

It doesn't do as much good as it used to but it makes me feel better. It also gives anyone else within earshot a good laugh.

Oh my, I'm sorry, Tsaiko, but I'm really just laughing my ass off right now. I'm sorry that it happened, I really am, but now you;ve moved from ArcGIS to this? Pffff, doesn't look like its any better XD

Well, I really hope they get it fixed. Computers are very good things ^^

Who am I?
