KML FILES ARE THE WORK OF SATAN!

I feel your pain

Bleck. I like Google Earth and such as much as the next person, but it just does not have the analysis tools ArcGIS does. I know all that people see of our work is the nifty maps, but that's not all we do. So using something that only is good for making nifty maps is not going to cut it.

For me, I'm having the hardest time converting the files between kml and shp. I can display kml files with an extension in ArcMap, but no attribute data. I can convert between the two using an on-line conversion, but again, attribute data screws up. And of course, I need to do analysis using the attribute data. I keep thinking "Someone out there has a fix to this problem." but damned if I can find it.

Who am I?
