This has been my morning. "Uh... we need directions to parcels W, X, Y, and Z. They don't have addresses. Tell us how to get there." So I open the GIS files and open Google Maps. I could do it with just the GIS files (I have a street file) but quite frankly, Google maps has better street names (they actually give me the alternate name for state rds) and gives me exit numbers for getting off the highways. Then I get to give directions like "Okay, go to where the road ends. The place you're looking for is about 1500 ft past that. Have fun hiking!"

I'm really going to miss this job. Even though sometimes it drives me nuts.

I kind of get the giggles when you train on a piece of software for years and your answer to a problem that you could use it for is still "Google it"

It requires a little more than me saying "Google it." I do have to do a lot of comparing with aerial photos and adding points. But when I need to show someone who doesn't have the GIS software where to go or someone needs to be able to access a map remotely, Google Maps is a godsend. Just don't try to do any sort of analysis with it.
