Don't you hate it when you want to write and nothing wants to be written?

Any suggestions from the peanut gallery? If I don't get suggestions, I'm going to be forced to read for class. And we can't have that.

"I can explain," Irvine said, holding his hands out in a placating gesture. Kalen wasn't interested in hearing it. He was more interested in yelling a lot and possibly throwing things.

"Explain? Explain! You leave me for months at a time with no explanation. I don't push. I don't ask. Finally, when I can't take it any more and track you down, I discover the fact that you’re a pirate. A pirate! And you're the captain of a ship that's basically called The Sea Unicorn.."

Irvine laughed nervously. Kalen was dimly aware that the entire crew and some of the dock workers had stopped their work in order to listen to the argument. That was fine. What wasn't fine was when one of them decided to speak.

"Well, Captain. I guess your blushing bride here knows your secret then."

Kalen turned on the man like a hawk turning after a pigeon. "Don't you people have anything better to do? Like running this ship?" It was amazing how quickly the entire deck could suddenly clear. One minute everyone was there and the next they were working. Some where else.

When Kalen looked back at Irvine, he was smiling. Damn him. It was hard to be angry at Irvine when he smiled like that. "I don't think I've ever seen the crew get back to work so fast in my life."

He opened his mouth to protest and was cut off by kiss. Irvine tasted like the sea, like heat and warmth and everything that Kalen had missed over the last few months. Once his thoughts were turned to mush, Irvine broke the kiss. Then he leaned his head down and whispered into Kalen's ear. "I knew there was a reason I loved you."
