I may have just killed our vacuum cleaner.
Accidentally banging it on the fireplace, followed by a spark, and then a burning smell is not a good sign, right?
Considering we've had this thing since we killed our last one five apartments ago back when we still lived in NC, maybe it's time we get a new one anyway.

When I was growing up we had a Kirby that lasted through all of my growing up and then some. I hear they aren't as lasting now but they do repair the older versions still or did up to 10 years ago.
I like the canister varity for the it takes more to hurt them reason now. The motor part is not where the knocking it into things forcefully part meets.

I recommend the bagless, they're quite amazing. B really likes ours. It was worth the investment.
