I started working about a month and a half ago on their new project. First thing I asked as "Does the city have any GIS data?" Nope. None. So I bust my butt making 60+ maps. Get those in on time and ask for corrections. People wait three weeks and then give me the corrections. Then they ask me to do several other maps in less than a week. Nope. Not going to happen since I'm leaving for Thanksgiving. I get back, deal with the move downstairs, and start working on the corrections.
First, the date these are due gets moved up from Monday at 5pm to Friday at noon, meaning I have a whole weekend less to do it.
Second, one week before the stuff is due I find out there is a GIS file with 90% of the information I needed in it. I could have done those 60+ maps in half the amount of time. As it is, because of the way I was forced to create the maps the first time, I now have to go back through and compare 60+ maps to this new data to make sure they are correct.
Third, the place is still sending me map requests. Nevermind that they supposedly gave me the specs for all the maps they needed three weeks ago. Now they suddenly need five more maps. I have told them I will do what I can, but I cannot turn around maps this quickly during exam week.
Fine. You can be incompetent. Just keep in mind that your incompetence means you're paying me to do twice as much work as I need to. Idiots.
