You learn something new every day. o_O

Fan Death is a South Korean urban legend which states that an electric fan, if left running overnight in a closed room, can result in the death (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia) of those inside. This belief also extends to air conditioners.

I'm filing this under: I have got to use this belief in an alien species one day.

Some of you may remember that I was complaining about the fact that the satellite might not fly over in time? Well that worry has been laid to rest. The satellite did fly and take pictures over the areas it needed to. So what's the problem now?

The problem now is that we are the proud owners of three very large, highly detailed satellite images of cloud cover. Not lakes, but clouds. One of the images did allow us to see four of the fifteen lakes through some whispy clouds, but that is not enough. This means that all measurements and pictures taken on the ground are for naught because we don't have satellite images of the plant beds and can't get new ones taken before the beds die off for the year.

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!

So, new plan. We're going to jump through all these hoops again next year in the hopes that we'll get better pictures to work with. We will be doing this sooner in the year, we will give them a much smaller window to do it, and we will ask that this time could they check the weather station before they fly the satellite. Luckily, the place that controls the satellite was apologetic and is giving us a discount. Still, not how I wanted to begin my thesis work.

At least I can take my time to do a thorough literature search.

Who am I?
