Busy mid-week
Wednesday, July 11th, 2007 06:21 pmSo I got a lot done today.
- Attended meeting where I discovered what I'm doing is way more important than I thought. I felt kind of lost at the meeting but the Dept. Head assured me that was normal considering I'd been thrown in the middle of all this with little explanation.
- Somehow got drafted into helping give a presentation on what I've (and a few other) graduate students have been doing. o_O
- Did some more grocery shopping as a I realized that what I bought Sunday was not going to last me. At least now I have more supplies to fall back on. I'm still new to this whole cooking for myself every day but one.
- Boiled eggs and cooked onions so I could make delicious egg salad. Now I have breakfast for the rest of the week. Also left a few boiled eggs so I could eat them as snacks at work in the afternoons.
- Currently using my dehydrator to dry out egg shells. As strange as that sounds, I've got a tomato plant growing and they tend to get calcium deficiency easily. I could go pay for a bag of lime that I'll only use like a cup or so of. Or I can dry out eggshells that I was going to throw away anyway, grind them up, and put them on my plant. I'm cheap. Might also use them around the Swiss Chard. For the first time in my life, I wish I drank coffee so I could use the grounds to supply nitrogen.
- Sliced up all the celery I have so it's either ready to be dehydrated for soup or used with peanut butter as a snack.
- Filled up a freezer bag full of veggie bits and put it in the freezer. I'll probably need to start another one since these freezer bags are not as big as what I'm use to. Once I have two filled, I'll use that to make vegetable stock (assuming that
miome is here by then). Twice the flavor and none of the salt. Besides, it's a pain to find any kind of vegetable stock in the grocery store.
Now, I'm going to play on the computer till bed time.
