Poster presentation is over. There was a terrifying moment when I realized that one of the people talking with me about my poster was a guy who I'm siting in my thesis. Dammit, I didn't want people who understand what I'm doing reading that thing! Luckily, he was very, very nice. I was kind of overshadowed by the guy who set up near me. His poster topic? "The Spatial Distribution of the Seven Deadly Sins in America." I did manage to snag a CD of the work with all the awesome maps. I might see if I can find a copy of the study on-line to share. It's really interesting.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Now that that's over, I can actually enjoy the rest of my week in Las Vegas.

How exaclty are the Seven Deadly Sins distributed throughout America? I was not aware that they were physical features that could be mapped. Though I guess if you count the Strip in Vegas as a sin... Hmm, interesting ;)

Well obviously you can't measure the sins directly. But you can measure proxies for them like results. An area with an large number of violent crimes has an excess of wrath. An area where people have a high body mass index (which is a measure of obesity) has an excess of gluttony. And so on and so forth. I got an CD that has all the maps on it, including what they used to calculate each sin. I can't wait to go through it when I get home. XD

I definitely would love to see those maps... And speaking of maps, I'm actually updating from my remote sensing class, getting ready to hand in my midterm. Frickin' midterm... Wish me luck >.
